From its inception in the mind of Central Coast Engineer Craig de Leon to its current market position as one of the country’s favourite electric brake controllers, Elecbrakes has always been proudly Australian. Our startup that took the towing community by storm with its wireless reinvention of the traditional brake controller is not only Australian owned and designed, but also entirely manufactured here in Australia, supporting the economy and creating local jobs.

This homegrown business model was no accident. As the business began to grow in 2018, we had to make a difficult decision. We had to choose between going down the route that many multinational companies have taken and outsource the manufacturing to another country like China or to keep all operations at home in Australia.

This wasn’t a decision that was taken lightly, considering that the cost to manufacture all components on home soil represented a 20% increase in production cost. But the value of supporting Australian manufacturing was more important to us than profit margins and so the decision was made to stay 100% Aussie.

We chose to produce the product with the security of our own quality controlled factory north of Sydney where we employ local workers. Our workers are offered cadetships where they can improve their skills and training.

While the overall cost of production is greater than if we outsourced to China, the contribution to Australian manufacturing and the commitment to highest quality manufacturing has always been a no-brainer. Elecbrakes is proud to be certified Australian Made.
